Let’s Make Some Memories!

December 10, 2010 by Rose Cook

Isn’t it ironic how the hustle and bustle of the “happy holidays” produces lots of stress for many?  And, when you get down to the “why,” it’s usually about the “things” people are hurrying to buy.  “Are you done with your Christmas shopping yet?” produces angst in even the most organized of individuals!

Yet, when I talk to people about what they like best about this time of year, I hear accounts of the fond memories and experiences….and NOT the “things”.  Hmmm….what does that tell us?

Please allow me to share some of my own memorable moments, plus some from my friends.  I hope they will cause you to reflect on your own precious times….

  • Singing the Twelve Days of Christmas and wondering who will be the lucky one with “5 Golden Rings”.  Thanks, Ma!
  • Huddling in the cold in the middle of NYC’s Times Square, trying to call your long lost high school friends.  Thanks, Toni Ann!
  • Joking about the “leg lamp” from “The Christmas Story” and remembering the times you “double dog dared” your friends.  Thanks, Brian!
  • Watching your 14 year old smile while he finishes a pulled-pork sandwich from Tony DiNic’s at The Reading Terminal Market.  Thanks, Karen!
  • Viewing “It’s a Wonderful Life” for the 10th time in one season with your college roommates and trying hard to hold back the tears.  Thanks, Joe!
  • And, the list could go on and on…

So, what will YOU do with your time off this holiday season?

Let’s make some memories!  Would love to hear about them…

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year!  See you in 2011!
